I always worry a little that the couples I work with are going to think I'm completely insane. How else would someone respond to a message like, "Wear comfortable shoes because we're going to have to go climbing through a boulder field." Marisa and Jason were incredibly game, though, and this shoot was super fun.Read More

Last Friday night, I was playing cards when I got an excited message from Carmen who had just gotten engaged. She wanted to do pictures and I had a Sunday morning opening. The result? Less than 48 hours later, we were standing in a field at 6:30 AM. It was totally awesome.Read More
By now, you know what the Ice Bucket Challenge is. It's an internet meme with the intention of raising money to find a cure for a terrible disease. Videos are cool, but my family thought it would be fun to do it in pictures and we got a little carried away.Read More
This summer has really been something in terms of inspiration. Many of the people I've photographed are doing something really impressive with their lives and Miwa Andrus is definitely no exception.Read More
Summer is an awesome time for outdoor photo shoots. The only real enemy you have is rain. And, on this day, we had plenty of that. Luckily, Sara and Erik are awesome sports and were totally game when I suggested we go shoot in the rain under a grimy railroad bridge.Read More
I've been wanting to do a yoga shoot for a while. Maybe it's the fact that I'm super inflexible that it's appealing to me. Or maybe it's that almost every serious yoga person I know is just really rad. Either way, I'm really glad Lyndsay was my subject for my first yoga portrait session. She's extremely beautiful and has an awesome attitude that made this shoot ridiculously fun.Read More

I love taking pictures of people when they're happy. It's why I like the types of photography some other shooters scoff at. Weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries...I'm happy to shoot any of them because the smiles are always so genuine. That's typically the case with maternity shoots, too, but Sarah and Myles went above and beyond happy. They're, like, Pharrell happy.Read More
The new Grey Skies Fallen record is out now and you should probably go buy it right now. Here are some pictures to look at while you're listening.Read More
I found it a little odd that after all this time pointing cameras at people, I had never shot a surprise engagement. It sounded like great fun. You get to capture someone at one of the happiest moments in their entire lives.
Luckily, Chris hit me up a few weeks before he planned to pop the question. I couldn't accept the gig fast enough.Read More

I've never belonged to a Crossfit gym. My wife, however, was a member for several years and in that time I met a ton of really fantastic people who train. A while back, we did a shoot (originally intended for a calendar) that demonstrates some of the core movements of Crossfit. I know, the image above isn't exactly a fundamental (pistols on a kettlebell are an impressive feat), but the rest are pretty essential.Read More
Recently, Profoto lent me a pair of their prototype off-camera flashes to test for a magazine article. They're big boy strobe lights built for the rigors of on-location shooting. Luckily, Amanda and John had recently gotten engaged and a great local bar needed a few promotional photos, so I managed to kill three birds with a single photographic stone.Read More
Switching websites is never a fun task and I realize that when I came to this swanky new site, some of my old photo sets didn't make it. Heather and John's wedding in NYC was one of my all-time favorites, so when I realized it didn't make the journey to my new site, I needed to fix it ASAP.
It was a truly great time with two fantastic people. Second shooting by the always-awesome Dan Bracaglia
It's weird to think how long it has been since my uncle Rich died. That's him with the fish in the top left part of the frame. Even though he's gone, his welding shop hasn't changed thanks to his brother Joe and his nephew Rich (pictured), who's one of my oldest friends.Read More
Do awesome stuff pretty much all the time.
My dogs aren't very fun to photograph. So, when I get a chance to take pictures of someone else's awesome dogs, I'm generally pretty stoked on it. Some friends of mine have a pair of awesome German Shorthaired Pointers and they wanted some doggy portraits. Luckily, they also have a giant plot of land on which they can run. The result is an insanely fun photo shoot.Read More
Fall is creeping into upstate New York. Everything smells like apples and everyone is finally not sweating.Read More
By now, it's probably pretty obvious that photographing people is my thing. Recently, I was presented with the opportunity to shoot some photos for an awesome new fitness clothing brand, Fiternity. We didn't have a lot of time to get the shots, but I quickly realized that this is pretty much just portrait photography.
Our model was awesome, the clothes look great, and I had a blast shooting it. Check them out, then check out the rest of the photos. They'll make you want to go for a jog. Or at least do some pushups. They did for me, at least.Read More
