I like all kinds of weddings, including the small intimate ones, but there's nothing quite like a huge day full of family and friends. Laura and Mike were expecting rain for their big day, but instead they got an incredible Monday that would have felt right at home in the middle of summer.

Molly and John got married on the day Beyonce decided to drop her new album, Lemonade. I'm not suggesting that the two things are in any way related, but it's a real coincidence that so many inspiring events should happen on one beautiful Brooklyn day.

I recently bought a new (to me) camera on eBay and the seller threw in a pack of old T-Max medium format film to go with it. It turns out that the film expired in 1993, so I was very curious to shoot with it. I have a few more rolls left and I want to shoot some portraits on them. Check out the story here!

I first met Amy when shooting an event at Crossfit Soulshine in Saratoga, NY. I specifically remember taking note of how much of a beast she was during the workout (which is actually a compliment in the Crossfit world). It turns out, in addition to being an awesome athlete, she's also a certified massage therapist who specializes in working on other athletes.

Every year, I spend the first week in January out in Las Vegas for work. As a result, my New Year's Resolutions typically start a week late. Right now, I'm in the midst of a healthy eating initiative and, frankly, I kind of suck at it. My friend Laura--otherwise known as the Sassy Dietician--however, is fantastic at it. She's currently putting on a No Sugar Challenge with a group from our gym and I thought it would be awesome to help promote it with a photo shoot.

I know, I know, I'm running a bit behind on blogging all the stuff I've been shooting lately. I'm recovering from a respiratory infection that has rendered me rather useless lately, but we're back at it, and I can't think of a better way than with Kate and Kyle's engagement session.
Read MoreLeyla and Levi's Altamont Vineyard and Winery Wedding
I have been an extremely lucky photographer this wedding season. Not only have all of my couples been about as cool and easy to work with as I could possibly hope for, but they all seem to have picked awesome venues for their big days. Leyla and Levi got married at the Altamont Vineyard & Winery on a rather perfect day.
Read MoreMarisa and Jason's Crystal Cove Wedding
When I first met with Marisa and Jason, I asked if they would be open to shooting their engagement session while climbing out into a bolder field. They agreed without hesitation, and from that moment on, I was pretty sure we were going to get along just fine.

Some of you who have shot with me or have been around me during a shoot know that I tend to sweat a lot. Sometimes it's awkward, like during a wedding, but last week I my sweat was right at home. I was honored to be the official photographer for the 2015 Shatter Slam, a Crossfit-style competition put on to raise money for the Maddie's Mark foundation.
Read MoreA Very Malone Birthday
I first met Joshua and Chris at Sara and Erik's wedding in Vermont earlier this year. So, when I was invited to photograph their 30th birthday party, I was excited. Of course, I wasn't disappointed. It was one of the nicest, most tasteful birthday parties I have ever been to. The food was amazing, the decorations were fantastic, and there was an entire room of desserts.

Full disclosure: I'm not a master landscape photographer. I mean, I know all the rules about hyperfocal distance and fighting diffraction at small apertures from years of working in the industry, but I'm kind of a poser. But, when Microsoft invited me to Alaska to try out the photography workflow with their new Lumia phones and the Surface 3, I didn't see how I could turn it down.

My awesome friend Mary works for a fantastic organization called the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. They rescue horses who can no longer compete with the help of inmates from correctional facilities as part of their rehabilitation. Last year, I did a photobooth for their biggest fundraiser of the year and they were kind enough to have me back in 2015. This time, the photobooth got a whole lot fancier.

The Albany skyline might not be the most famous landscape in the USA, but it sure is recognizable. So, when Maggie and Chris told me that they were having their wedding at Taste with a view of the Empire State Plaza, I was stoked. Not only would we have awesome views to work with, but we had one of the raddest couples I know to stand in front of it.

I knew Sara and Erik were going to be my kind of couple when they agreed to do their engagement shoot under a grimy railroad bridge in the rain. Sadly, that rain came back for their wedding day at Mt. Snow in Vermont, but it certainly couldn't slow down the festivities. I shot more party pictures at the reception than I have at any other wedding.

It has been an absurdly busy summer here on the photography front and I'm behind on posting a lot of the awesome stuff we have been shooting. I can't wait to post a few wedding previews this week, but I wanted to take a quick second to shout out Elisabeth Akinwale who just competed in the 2015 Crossfit Games.

As many of you know, I work a full-time job as an editor for Popular Photography and American Photo, which are owned by Bonnier. It's one of those large publishing companies you may not recognize by name, but their umbrella covers very familiar brands like Popular Science, Saveur, and outdoor magazines like Field & Stream and Outdoor life. For the past few years, they have been putting on a Bring Your Kid to Work today and I've brought my daughter Lucy. It's an awesome opportunity to meet the kids of my co-workers and also to spend some time doing cool dad stuff with Lucy.

As many of you know, I work a 9-5 as the online editor for Popular Photography and American Photo magazines. As part of that gig, we test out a lot of new gear, and each issue features a two-page spread shot with one of the products reviewed that month. For the February issue, I nabbed that spot with the Rokinon 50mm F/1.4 lens and a friend who's a very good sport when it comes to modeling.

When I woke up in the morning, the snow hadn't started yet. Even going into the later part of the morning, it was overcast, but nothing was falling from the sky. Then, it was snow time. It quickly became apparent that our afternoon maternity session was going to be a wintery one. Luckily, Peter and Lauren are totally awesome and great sports.
